John Cannon was born in Newmarket, Suffolk, England, and was evacuated to the countryside during the war, so his education began at boarding school in 1944.
John has had no formal music education except three months of piano lessons at the age of sixty! The advent of the computer age has made possible the recording and notation of his musical ideas which he works out on the keyboard in real time.
John uses a Kurzweil PC88mx keyboard, an Apple Performa 6290, Coda Music's Finale 2000 and Mark of the Unicorn's FreeStyle notation software.
