This is a sequence of the finale from Rimsky-Korsakov's suite from his opera "Coq d'Or" (Golden Cockerel), subtitled "The Marriage Feast and the Lamentable End of King Dodon". It has been sequenced for the Proteus 2. I have used the One Stop Music Shop sound card for the Piccolo and Timpani as the score requires many instruments. However, you may be able to shoehorn these two tracks into a 16-channel MIDI setup. Note that I have transposed up an octave the entire Piccolo track as OSMS does not automatically transpose up this instrument like the Proteus 2 does. Also, those using Bars&Pipes Professional without a Proteus 2 will notice that I have transposed up an octave the Trombones&Tuba track since the Proteus 2 transposes this program down an octave to accomodate the tuba. Bars&Pipes Professional users will see the score as it appears on paper and a Tranpose Tool at the end of each track to convert the output to the correct pitch. In the .MID version, all tracks have been already transposed as if the score were in C. A lot of tracks are necessary as Rimsky-Korsakov requires instrument changes in both the Clarinets and Bass Clarinet as well as two types of Trumpets. Note to Proteus 2 owners: I use program 64 for the English Horn which uses a fuller range as E-mu did not sample the instrument throughout its entire playable range. Also, you will notice program changes in the Horns track between a horn section and soft and loud horns. --Gary Goldberg Genie: G.GOLDBERG3 CompuServ: 76236,3302 Internet: gg0012@epfl2.epflbalto.org
