This sequence of the 3rd movement of Shostakovich's 1st Symphony is intended for the Proteus 2 (Orchestral) sound module. I've had to do some track-sharing to play the music on one sound module due to the many solos strings at the end of the movement. The timpani track shares a channel with the String Solos track. For those whose sequencers cannot read the track notes, here are the solo string passages: Violins (String Solos track): bars 81-94 and from 114 to the end. Violas: bars 111 to the end Cellos: bars 16-21 (String Solos track) and 109 to the end (Tremolo Strings track) Note that I've used a custom Solo Cello program (#124) at bar 16 as Shostakovich requires it to play higher than the Proteus 2 sampled range allows. Trumpets: Shostakovich calls for 2 Bb trumpets and one Contralto trumpet in F. Since I originally had to put them on the same channel to keep the sequence down to 16 channels, it sounded bad when they play in unison, which they often do. Therefore, I have omitted passages where the F trumpet duplicates the Bb trumpets' line and combined the tracks. When listening to the sequence you will note that the movement does not end conclusively. This is because in performance the fourth movement immediately follows without pause (attacca).
