Dmitriy Shostakovich's 11th Symphony ("The Year 1905") depicts the events of the Russian Revolution of that year. The second movement portrays the Palace Square in the early morning fog as the demonstrators gather. A panicked Cossack commander orders his troops to charge and disperse the crowd, which has assembled to petition the Czar for a redress of grievances (he was in the Crimea at the time), resulting in great loss of life and inciting the revolution. The movement is sequenced for the Proteus 2 with the addition of the following instruments (since one synth cannot play all the instruments): English Horn, Xylophone, Celesta, and Harps. Please note that in bars 252-255 in the Tremolo Strings track there is a temporary program change to Pizzicato Violins (the Tremolo Strings shares a channel with the Bass Clarinet). Also note that the Trombones and Tuba are on one track, using the Proteus 2 program for that combination. --Gary Goldberg GaryG@ix.netcom.com
