Welcome to the second installment of the Shostakovich 7th ("Leningrad") Symphony (I've uploaded the 2nd movement already, perhaps to the same site you're visiting now). As it is scored for an enormous orchestra, including 10 extra brass instruments, I've thrown my entire arsenal against this beast: my Proteus 2 (for most instruments), Korg O3R/W (with Orchestral ROM card) (for tracks beginning with "Korg", except the Piano), JV 1080 (with Orchestral Expander card) (for tracks beginning with "JV"), and my Korg P3 Piano module (which just does piano, but rather nicely, thank you). And, yes, the Korg P3 Orchestral ROM card actually has a "Mute Trombones" patch! In order to have the melody stand out at certain points (like when everyone else is playing fff), I've take the liberty of doubling some of the brass notes on other brass tracks (those using a different sound module). All transpositions have been made to C, so Proteus 2 owners should note that the Piccolo, Tuba, and Basses need to change these tracks by an octave (owners of other synths might note that the Proteus 2 thoughtfully does the transpositions for many transposing instruments in the program parameters). --Gary Goldberg National Capital Amiga Users Group GaryG@ix.netcom.com (preferred) 76236.3302@compuserve.com
