This sequence of the finale to Dmitry Shostakovich's 7th ("Leningrad") Symphony was done for 3 devices, the Proteus 2 (Orchestral), aided by the Korg O3R/W and Roland JV 1080 sound modules, both with Orchestral ROM cards. You will need at least 2 sound modules to play all the instruments with full polyphony. Tracks to be played by the Korg are so designated; those to be played by the Roland JV 1080 start with "JV..."; the remainder (majority) of the tracks are to be played by the Proteus. All tracks have been transposed to concert pitch. The score calls for an extra brass section, which I have placed in the middle of the tracks separated by blank tracks. I have taken the liberty of doubling some brass lines played by the main brass section so they can stand out from the massive sound of the accompanying winds and strings. You will also notice some doubling of the main brass passages. Percussion notes: Snare drum: an A below middle C is a rolled snare drum; a C below middle C is a single hit Timpani: note that I have used a Korg Orchestral ROM card program for timpani rolls String notes: I have tried to minimize the number of tracks by having the string sections share channels with their pizzicato passages. In addition, I have used had some tracks share programs for sections playing tremolo, pizzicato, and/or arco. Notes with the track names indicate where the changes occur. --Gary Goldberg Internet: GaryG@ix.netcom.com Compuserve: 76236,3302
