Bruce Wyman
1956 - Present

Bruce Wyman was born in Washington, D.C. in 1956. As a child he did a great deal of reading, mostly in the sciences. In University (Ripon College, Wisconsin-BS-1978) he studied Physics. He continued his Physics studies by entering a doctoral program at the University of Maryland, but became interested in the study of dance. His interest in dance led him to quit the doctoral program with a M.S. and spend the next five years (1983-1989) studying and practicing modern dance.

Wyman's formal study of music is limited to a music appreciation course at Ripon. While there he also worked as a college disc jockey. His study of dance did necessitate the learning of rhythms and exposed him to a wide variety of music. It was during this time that he began teaching himself more music fundamentals and began composing. His first melody is represented by the composition "Andalusia", which is a reconstruciton of the original melocy.

The acquisition of a new computer, with a nice wavetable synthesis soundcard, rekindled his desire to experiment. All of his pieces have been composed using the (QWERTY) keyboard, since his experience with musical instruments is limited. His compostional process usually begins with a melodic line or rhythmic motive and expands from there.

Mr. Wyman currently resides in Tokyo, Japna where he has been teaching English for the past five years. He originally moved to Japan to immense himself in another culture, but he has stayed for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is his girlfriend.
