Welcome to the Classical MIDI Connection

New MIDI and MP3 files added on June 1, 2014.
    See the Recent Additions Page

The Classical MIDI Connection is an endeavor to provide the classical music enthusiast
with an easy method of accessing MIDI sequences of classical music.
You can browse the site and listen to any of the sequences available.
While visiting you might also want to take advantage of some of the other
    features available on the CMC.

    Great Contributors of Classical MIDI

A series of pages dedicated to outstanding achievments in classical MIDI sequencing.
    More to come...

    INSTRUCTIONS

Playing and downloading MIDI and MP3 files

Go to any of our pages that lists MIDI and MP3 files (see links in the left column), click on the file name and it will bring up the built-in media player. Smaller MIDI files will start playing immediately, larger ones and MP3 files may take longer to load, please be patient, it's usually only a few seconds.
MIDI files are simple text links, MP3 files are shown as buttons, here's an example:

    BACH, Johann Sebastian (1685-1750) German

When you click on the text link, the MIDI version will start playing, if you click on the MP3 button, you'll hear the MP3 version.
If you would like to download the file, or use your own MIDI sequencer, notation software or media player, you'll find the download link right below the online media player. Left-click will open the file in your default player, or you can right-click and select "Save Target As" (Internet Explorer) or "Save Link As" (Firefox) to download the file to your computer.
If you need any assistance, please post your question on the MIDI Forum or contact the webmaster.
MIDI files sound best using either GM compatible synthesizers, sound modules or wavetable soundcards. For more info on software and equipment, go to the MIDI Info Page
General MIDI information and reset files are available on this page: General MIDI
If your GM files sound funny, you can download the GM reset file from the above page.
An extensive selection of sequencers, MIDI players, and other music software and hardware can be found at the the zZounds Computer Music Store

    Finding MIDI and MP3 files

This site is organized by the style periods of classical music. To access one of the libraries, simply click on the style period you wish to browse (top of left column). On the period page, you will find entries organized in alphabetical order by the composers' last names. If you are looking for the works of a particular composer, you have two options. Click on the appropriate letter of the alphabet in the left column. This will drop you down to the composer's last name. Click on that name and you will be taken to the library or page where the composer's works are located. Once there, use the alphabetical list at the top of the page to locate the composer. The second option is the Search Page, which will locate the composer for you.
To listen to one of the sequences, click on the title of the selection you wish to hear.
If you would like to leave comments, suggestions or corrections, please contact me: http://www.classicalmidiconnection.com/contact.html.
    Enjoy your visit!

    SPECIAL THANKS

Faren Raborn for creating and maintaining this site till 1996.

Martin Weimer whose "Index of Classical Composers" has allowed for a much needed organized method of naming classical midi sequences.

Robert Finley whose examples of excellent sequencing technique have served as an education in sequencing as well as providing wonderful listening experiences. A collection of Mr. Finley's sequences are available in The Finley Connection.

Everyone who contributed their MIDI and MP3 files, and/or supported the site through generous donations.

The Classical MIDI Connection has been continuously online since 1995, supported partly by sponsor ads and donations. All MIDI and MP3 files are original, submitted by the good people who created them, nothing was taken from other websites. The CMC is a one-man operation, so please forgive the webmaster for being a bit slow on catching up with the new inventions of the web. I'm doing my best to keep the site updated, organized, and pay the server costs.

    DISCLAIMER

Every attempt possible has been made to verify that the sequences contained in the Classical MIDI Connection are free from any copyright infringement. Those submitted by various individuals have been received and posted in good faith. There are those, however, who will attempt to take credit for work that is not their own. Should you encounter a file that infringes on any copyrights or gives credit to someone other than the originator of the sequence, please send notification IMMEDIATELY and the proper measures will be taken to rectify the error.
