This is a sequence of Respighi's "Roman Festivals". The music is in four parts (Circus Maximus, Jubilee, October Festival, and Epiphany), but is played without pause. Respighi used a huge orchestra and in some cases several versions of the same instrument are required due to key changes (e.g. clarinets and trumpets), so I've put each on its own track; I've also put muted instruments (horns, trumpets, and trombones) on their own tracks, too, in case your sound modules have these programs. A note on some of the unusual instruments Respighi used: Tavolette - as far as I have been able to determine, this is simply a board hit with a hammer Rattle - Raganella, also known as a clapper. Sop. Trumpets - Buccine, high-pitched trumpets All tracks have been transposed to concert pitch (i.e. as they sound). I used four modules, 3 orchestral (Proteus 2, Korg O3R/W, and the Roland JV1080, the latter two with orchestral card expansions). Tracks using the Korg have a "K" at the beginning (except the Piano track, as I use a Korg P3 for that) and those using the Roland start with an "R". The other tracks are for the Proteus' use. However, you should be able to rearrange the tracks to fit a 32-channel system by combining the music of tracks sharing the same channels or the same instrument. The only program changes within a track should be for the (Proteus) "Horns" track (where 36 is for soft horns, 37 for loud horns, and 38 for section horns), Solo Violin (sharing with String Harmonics within bar 506), and Tremolo Strings (used at times* for bowed or pizzicato strings when that section is divided and playing both ways at the same time). The above-noted instruments that use different models (such as Bb, A, or C) at various points in the music share channels and the string sections share channels between their bowed and pizzicato passages. * Other programs using the Tremolo Strings track are: Arco (bowed) Violins, bars 207-214, 227-230; Pizzicato Violins, bars 223-226, 462-489) -- Gary Goldberg National Capital Amiga Users Group garyg@ix.netcom.com
