SEARCH THE WEB FOR MIDI FILES

Web classicalmidiconnection.com

This simple search engine will search the contents of all the page that comprise the CMC. You can search for a composer's name or the words in the title of a composition. However, you cannot do searches on complete titles. The engine looks for individual words only. It will not search for phrases. The results do take a little time to generate, but this is still much quicker than browsing the entire site. Instructions are provided below the form.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Use one or more words, each separated by one space. (The fewer words you use, the quicker the search.)
  2. DO NOT use and or or between your search words. The Boolean does that for you.
  3. Avoid using articles and prepositions such as a, and, the, of, on, etc.. This will slow the search. If you are looking for a title such as "A Night on Bald Mountain" try using night mountain using Boolean: AND. This will generate a list of links to all of the pages that contain both of those words.
  4. Boolean: AND results will be links to every page that contains ALL of the words you entered.
    • Ex.: piano sonata will result in a list of all pages that contain the words piano and sonata but not necessarily in that order.
  5. Boolean: OR results will be links to every page that contains ANY of the words you entered.
    • Ex.: piano sonata will result in a list of all pages that contain either one of the words, but not necessarily both of the words.
  6. Once you receive a list of links, follow the links and use your browser's Find function to assist in locating exactly what you are searching for.
